Challenge
Foster Wheeler came to Covelo with a challenge that many companies face: a recruiting process that was both expensive and unproductive. As an international engineering, construction and project management contractor, Foster Wheeler turned to Covelo to help streamline its recruitment process and bring in the best talent possible.
Strategy
Covelo started by evaluating Foster Wheeler's current recruitment strategy. Given that Foster Wheeler lacked a clear method and process for
managing open jobs, Covelo made resolving this its top priority. Covelo began by categorizing each open position under three labels - direct positions, contract positions and direct/contract positions. The goal was to determine which requisitions would be managed internally and which ones would be best filled by a third-party agency.
Covelo then worked to set up a central web-based portal to effectively manage all communication with pre-selected agencies. The private portal provided each agency and agency recruiter with a personal login, giving them access to the same information in real-time. Covelo also relieved Foster Wheeler from managing its agency contracts and administrative responsibilities, including invoicing and timekeeping. This new process gave Foster Wheeler more time focus on core, organizational tasks.
As part of the Covelo process, Foster Wheeler was assigned a full-time project manager who worked on site within the company's human resources department. This employee served as the main Covelo contact for both Foster Wheeler and its partner agencies. By working in-house, the project manager was able to oversee all agency initiatives and expedite successful placements, ensuring valuable time and resources were not lost.
Lastly, to maximize efficiency in the future, Covelo implemented a new information sharing process. The new protocols determined how information was released to agencies and how agency candidates were submitted to Foster Wheeler. The end-goal was to ensure agencies received greater access to information and quicker feedback to in turn improve and refine candidate searches on a consistent basis.
Results
With Covelo's unique approach, Foster Wheeler was able to develop an efficient and effective recruiting process. By developing solid working relationships with new and current agencies, Foster Wheeler could hand select agencies that would best serve the company's goals and needs. Additionally, the Covelo contact person housed in the Foster Wheeler offices allowed the company to instantly identify information submissions by agency, date and time. Lastly, the new process created a streamlined billing method in which invoices and payments to clients were received in record time. With Covelo, Foster Wheeler has been able to significantly cut unnecessary costs, increase managers' recruiting efficiencies and improve the overall billing and invoice reconciliation process.
